In the mid-2000s, Blizzard introduced two-factor authentication using physical authentication keychains.
When logging into an account, the player entered not only a password, but also a one-time code that was generated by the device and constantly changed. Later, these keychains were replaced by mobile applications, but the devices themselves could operate for more than 10-15 years without replacing the battery.
